Full steam ahead
    2017-04-20  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A: How is your new sales campaign?

B: Now we’ve solved a few problems, it’s full steam ahead.

Note: This idiom means “with all possible energy and enthusiasm.” It uses the metaphor of a locomotive train powered by steam, moving at top speed. Locomotives are powered essentially by boiling water, producing steam as a result. As one of them pulls into a station, it usually blows a horn as a signal and at the same time billows large volumes of steam. Literally, when a locomotive is operating at full steam, the water boiling mechanism is working at full capacity, producing as much hot steam as possible. Therefore, “full steam ahead” means “at top speed, no efforts reserved.”
