Changing rooms
ALL of the 48 baby changing rooms in Terminal 3 of Shenzhen International Airport will be renovated, the airport authority said. Two new experience zones will also be set up inside the terminal.
Shenzhen has taken the lead in China in setting up changing rooms where mothers can feed their babies and change diapers for them.
Insider theft
FOUR suspects, including a warehouse keeper and two former employees of an electronics factory in Bao’an District, were arrested for stealing CPUs with a 2.5-million-yuan (US$363,500) market value.
The factory reported the incident to police March 15 after they found that two batches of CPUs had gone missing.
The police investigation showed that the suspect, Wei, a foreman of the company’s warehouse, had stolen the CPUs with two former employees and sold them to a suspect surnamed Dai.
Back wage payment
THE Shenzhen human resources and social security bureau took action on 20 employers to pay 19.369 million yuan in back wages in advance to 3,025 employees in 2016.
The bureau also retrieved 7.39 million yuan in back wages from employers in 2016.
Shenzhen was the first city in China to implement rules for regulating back wages and ensuring payments to employees by setting up a special fund.
Bank card theft
A MAN, surnamed Chen, 20, was arrested for wiring 29,698 yuan to his own account by modifying the WeChat payment code of a phone that he had picked up in a washing room at an expressway service station.
Chen found the phone was left behind on the washing platform March 7 on his way from Luoding to Shenzhen. He was able to change the WeChat payment code by using the ID card and bank card information of the phone user, Jiang, which he found in the phone, and transferred 29,688 yuan into his own account over three transfers.
The phone user, Jiang, found that the money that was in the two cards tied to his WeChat account was missing March 8 when he tried to withdraw money from an ATM and reported it to police.
Lottery man
A LOCAL resident identified as Hou won 60.15 million yuan in the lottery Wednesday with a 20 yuan welfare lottery ticket he had bought Tuesday, which is a record for the Shenzhen Social Welfare Issuance and Circulation Center.
Hou cashed in the lottery ticket, which he had bought at a lottery ticket office in Dalang, Longhua District, at the Shenzhen Social Welfare Issuance and Circulation Center on Wednesday morning.
Man gets lost
AN 86-year-old man surnamed Li, who came to Shenzhen to see his son, became lost after getting off the bus and walking along the Guangzhou-Shenzhen railway Tuesday.
Li was later saved by railway police officers, who contacted his son with a phone number that the old man kept in a notebook.
Battery fire
AN electric bike shop owner in Yantian District was put under administrative detention for 10 days for negligence that led to a fire in the shop.
The fire was caused by lithium batteries stacked on the shelves that ignited in the hot and humid weather, police said.
