AN app-based cab driver saved an abducted girl by locking the suspect inside his car while calling the police.
On Thursday evening, the 4-year-old girl was playing in a street in Longcheng Subdistrict, Longgang District, while her parents, who run a restaurant, were busy with their business. A man approached her, offering some candies. After being rejected, the man picked up the girl and ran into the darkness.
At an intersection, the man got into a cab and urged the driver, surnamed Qin, to take him to Henggang Subdistrict. Qin thought that the two were father and daughter and drove without a second thought.
During the trip, the girl cried out for her mom. When Qin asked where her mom was, the girl said she was cooking. When Qin asked where her father was, the girl answered that she didn’t know the man in the car.
At that point, Qin realized that the girl might have been abducted. Qin drove to a nearby police station and locked the man inside his car after getting out of the car to call the police.
The suspect denied abducting the girl, but he couldn’t say any detailed information about her. The girl told police that she was taken away by force by the man and told them the name of her family’s restaurant.
Police officers detained the suspected abductor.
