Motorcycle death
AN 18-year-old man, surnamed Lin, was killed in a crash while riding a motorcycle near Chaguang Metro Station in Xili, Nanshan District, on Saturday. The motorcycle’s passenger, surnamed Zheng, 16, was injured.
According to a release from traffic police, Lin was riding the motorcycle along Shahe West Road when he collided with a car at an intersection.
The cause is still under investigation.
Speeding violations
THE Guangzhou-Shenzhen Riverside Expressway and the Nanguang Expressway have seen the most speeding vehicles, statistics showed.
Police have stopped 99,737 drivers for speeding violations since January last year, or 6,649 violations a month.
Among them, 989 of the violations, or nearly 1 percent, were for speeding by more than 50 percent, most of which happened between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m.
Among these, 113 vehicles had violated speed limits more than 10 times, and half of them had dual mainland and Hong Kong license plates.
Metro intervals
THE Metro operator will reduce the train departure intervals on lines 7 and 9 to five minutes during the morning and evening rush hours on workdays starting today.
The interval during non-peak hours will be shortened to 6 minutes 50 seconds from the present 8 minutes. During the evening peak period on the weekends, the intervals will be shortened to five minutes 35 seconds for Line 7 and five minutes for Line 9.
The two lines serve about 570,000 riders a day on average.
Holiday trains
SHENZHEN East Railway Station will add three temporary trains namely K6672 to Yueyang, K6552 to Yongzhou and K6532 to Nanxiong between April 28 and May 2 for holiday travelers.
