Fish deaths

OXYGEN deficiency was blamed for the death of fish, shrimp and crabs offshore of Dapeng Bay in Guanhu and Shayuchong, an investigation report released on the WeChat account of Shenzhen’s urban planning, land and resources commission said Saturday.

The Shenzhen Oceanic Monitoring and Forecast Center started a test in the waters and found a 2-square-kilometer oxygen deficiency zone in the area where a large amount of dead fish was reported.

Car damage

A DOZEN cars parked on Fisherman’s Pier in Shekou, Nanshan District were maliciously damaged. Some windshields were broken and some tires were flattened.

Police have started an investigation. The preliminary investigation showed that local fishermen were dissatisfied with the cars and trucks that were illegally parked along the pier, blocking where they unload aquatic products from vessels.

Work safety

THE city reported a total of 81 work safety accidents that resulted in 60 deaths between January and March, a decrease of 16.49 percent and 17.81 percent respectively, compared with the same period last year.

The number of fatalities from traffic accidents was also reduced by 20 percent to 27 people in the first quarter.
