A NEW Madonna biopic is officially on the way, but the Queen of Pop doesn’t seem to be singing its praises. A film called “Blond Ambition” centering on the singer’s life and early career during the start of the 1980s has been picked up by Universal, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The movie will focus on Madonna as she develops her first album, grapples with stardom and attempts to break into an industry that doesn’t always treat women fairly. The report did not state whether Madonna was involved in any capacity, but she appeared to condemn the biopic being created with a cryptic Instagram post Tuesday after the news surfaced. “Nobody knows what I know and what I have seen. Only I can tell my story,” she wrote. “Anyone else who tries is a charlatan and a fool. Looking for instant gratification without doing the work. This is a disease in our society.” A representative for Madonna did not respond to a request for comment. The script, which was written by Elyse Hollander, landed the top spot on last year’s annual Black List, which compiles the screenplays that are yet to be produced but are well-liked by members of the industry. Madonna, 58, is the latest star to become the subject of a biopic, following Britney Spears, Nina Simone, Whitney Houston and Aaliyah in recent years. It has not been announced who will play Madonna in the movie.(SD-Agencies) |
