Han Ximin ximhan@126.com AFTER a six-month renovation, Dameisha Beach Park in eastern Shenzhen reopened yesterday with upgraded facilities, tightened security checks and online reservation measures. On the opening day, the park, a popular holiday spot in eastern Shenzhen, was orderly thanks to the online reservation rule that limits the number of visitors and staggers the hours they can enter the park. “Around 40,000 people entered the park using online reservations. Those who came to the park could also enter using the on-site reservation,” Li Yuhang, an employee with Dameisha Beach Park Management, said in an interview. The park was visited by around 350,000 people during last year’s May Day holidays. A traveler from Dongguan, surnamed Liu, thought that controlling the crowds by capping the number of visitors to 80,000 a day was good and the online reservation system was very simple. To ensure safety, all visitors with bags have to go through security checks at the three entrances to the park. Visitors can scan their ID card or the QR code at the entrances, or print their admission tickets using their ID or by scanning the QR code at the ticket dispensers before entering the park. The park management has set up lockers inside the park where visitors can keep their valuables. The rule will run through the summer season until Oct. 10. During the three-day May day holiday that ended yesterday, Yantian District opened its tourism community bus route for travelers to the tourism attractions in the district including Zhongying Street, Dameisha Beach Park, OCT East and Yantian Food Street. Yantian District spent 130 million yuan (US$19.11 million) on renovating the electrical systems, water pipelines, infrastructure, landscaping and security facilities in the Dameisha park. During the tourism season, the service of buses departing from the Meisha area, including J1, M437, 380A, 380B, 103, 308 and 387, will be extended until 2 a.m. The Meisha area saw heavy traffic yesterday with congestion on Huanmei Road, Yanmei Road and Shenyan Road. During the holiday, Shenzhen police received 11,433 reports, including 5,991 accident reports and 1,698 congestion reports. Shenzhen-Yantian No. 2 Passage was seriously congested during peak hours with a flow of 3,600 vehicles per hour. |
