A 19-YEAR-OLD suspect, surnamed Chen, allegedly set fire to a rental apartment after murdering a woman known as Huang, 39, in Bao’an District on Friday afternoon, according to Bao’an police.

During the police interrogation, Chen confessed that he had killed Huang when they had a physical conflict after quarreling.

The suspect was acquainted with the deceased, according to a witness living nearby. Chen’s father had allegedly been maintaining a romantic relationship with the woman.

It was reported that her body was found after the fire had been extinguished. The woman was confirmed dead, but the fire was determined not to be the cause of death, as burns were only found on her feet. Police are investigating. (Zhang Qian)
