Suicide attempt

A YOUNG man attempted to jump to his death from an office building after having his request for leave rejected.

Huaqiang Police Station in Futian District received a report April 26, saying that a man was attempting to jump from a balcony of an office building.

The investigation showed that the man, a security guard who had been on duty for a month, had quarrelled with his superior after having his request for leave rejected.

The man later gave up the idea after being persuaded by police.

Fishing ban

DAPENG is implementing a 108-day fishing ban starting May 1, calling 600 ships back to port.

The fishery administration in Dapeng also opened a service hotline 8440-2235 for inquiries.

Rusty shell

WORKERS evacuated a rusty mortar bomb while working on pipelines near Mabu New Village in Shiyan, Bao’an District on April 30.

According to Bao’an police, the shell had been made in the 1960s.
