Walking home
A 19-YEAR-OLD woman, who wanted to walk back to her home in Hunan Province, was intercepted by a police officer on patrol on Shuiguan Expressway on Tuesday.
The woman, a native of Hunan, claimed that she wanted to walk home when she was intercepted near Bulong Tollgate.
The case has been handed to Buji Police Station and her identity has yet to be confirmed, Shenzhen traffic police said on its official microblog.
Live lizards
A 20-YEAR-OLD Hong Kong woman was caught carrying 120 live lizards in 10 nets in a big backpack when entering Shenzhen at Futian Checkpoint on Sunday.
The woman looked nervous and was walking fast before customs officers intercepted her for a random check.
Officers found 120 20- to 30-centimeter live lizards in her backpack.
The woman claimed she wanted to earn commissions by carrying the lizards, which would be sold as pets. The lizards have been handed to the quarantine department to handle.
Man attacked
A MAN who was jogging in a neighborhood in Nanshan District was beaten for no reason by two strangers.
The man, surnamed Yang, was jogging at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday when he was beaten by the two strangers.
Medical records showed that Yang endured injuries to his head, chest and left eyebrow. He received five stitches.
Yang didn’t know the reason, but suspected that he was attacked for being a member of the homeowners’ committee and taking part in activities safeguarding homeowners’ rights.
Hazardous chemicals
NEARLY 10,000 kilograms of dangerous chemical products stored at a warehouse were seized in Yanluo Subdistrict, Bao’an District on Tuesday.
The hazardous chemicals were found during a fire safety inspection of rental housing in the subdistrict. The warehouse is located under dormitories, staff of the subdistrict’s safety supervision office said. The chemicals were stored in 376 barrels.
New sidewalks
PINGSHAN District started to build new sidewalks and lanes for bicycles last year, and by the end of April new sidewalks and bicycle lanes measuring 260,000 square meters had been finished, the district’s traffic and transport bureau said.
The slow-traffic systems on several road sections have also been improved.
