‘Metamorphosis’
Artworks ranging from sculptures, videos to installations are on display at OCAT Shenzhen in memory of Huang Zhuan, renowned Chinese art historian, critic and curator. Initiated by Huang’s artist friends, the exhibition “Metamorphosis” features contemporary artworks selected from past exhibitions curated by Huang, plus a few new works. Huang played a key role in the development of contemporary Chinese art and pushed Shenzhen art organizations to engage in contemporary art.

Lotus paintings
Shenzhen Art Museum is exhibiting Chinese painting master Jao Tsung-i’s 38 lotus paintings. Jao, 99, is a scholar, poet, calligrapher and painter based in Hong Kong. A versatile scholar, he contributes to every field of the humanities, including archaeology, literature, philology, musicology and history.

Simon Denny’s works
“Simon Denny: Real Mass Entrepreneurship” is New Zealand artist Denny’s first solo exhibition in China. Through his investigation of Shenzhen’s ecosystem, the artist reflects on the high-tech industry’s role in reshaping the world’s economic horizons. The exhibition title echoes the timely call for “mass entrepreneurship and innovation” in China.

Video exhibition
The “In Search of Global Poetry: Videos From the Han Nefkens Collection” showcases 12 videos created by artists from different countries. The videos are on loan from Han Nefkens Foundation, a private nonprofit organization that supports contemporary creative projects.
