A worker directs a ship carrying Jiaolong, China’s manned submersible, to leave the Chiwan Port in Shekou for its latest scientific ocean expedition to the Mariana Trench in western Pacific yesterday. It will also conduct surveys in the Yap Trench. Named after a mythical dragon, Jiaolong reached its record depth of 7,062 meters in the Mariana Trench in June 2012. Xinhua
