Wutong Tunnel

THE 3.5-km Wutong Tunnel opened to traffic yesterday after a six-month renovation, sources from Yantian District Government said.

This is the second tunnel linking Yantian and Luohu districts. They were equipped with new lighting systems and bright traffic signs and the roads were resurfaced

Industrial garbage

SHEKOU Customs seized industrial waste weighing 1,000 tons which was smuggled onto the mainland disguised as artificial graphite in the west port area of the city in April.

The industrial waste was kept in 38 containers and was declared to the customs for import by a company in Henan Province.

The industrial waste was determined to be electrolytic aluminum anode blocks, which are banned from entering China. Another 1,075 tons of such waste was intercepted by Wenzhou Customs in Zhejiang Province.

The industrial waste could pose a threat to the environment and public health.

Xiangmi Park

XIANGMI Park in Futian District will open to the public this July, according to Gao Shengyuan, head of Futian District Government, in an interview with www.sznews.com recently.
