Metro tickets

HKMTR Shenzhen Co. has piloted mobile payment for Metro tickets at Shenzhen North Railway Station via WeChat and Alipay.

Riders can pay for their tickets by scanning the QR code at the ticket dispensers at the Metro station. The service will be expanded in stations along Line 4, according to the operator.

Virtual coins

FUTIAN police recently arrested 25 suspects who had allegedly amassed illicit profits totaling 30 million yuan (US$4.36 million) through pyramid sales of virtual coins.

An investigation showed that they were responsible for the development of the virtual coins, system maintenance, accounting and marketing. Police arrested the suspects in eight cities including Beijing, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Foshan and Dongguan.

Deadly fall

A MAN died after accidentally falling from the horse sculpture in Longhua Culture Square on Friday.

An investigation showed that the man, 19, unemployed, intended to climb up the back of a group of horse sculptures which is about 38 meters high. The man accidentally fell and hit the ground head first.
