Bag snatcher

POLICE in Luohu District recently arrested a suspect, surnamed Guo, 19, a native of Henan Province, for allegedly snatching bags from people who were riding app-based bikes.

Between May 2 and 7, Donghu, Cuizhu and Huangbeiling police stations received five cases of snatching robberies on the street. The suspect was riding an app-based bike and targeting pedestrians.

Police determined that Guo was living in Shuiku New Village and searched Internet bars and hostels before finally finding Guo in a convenience shop.

Guo admitted to the robberies.

Non-existing tickets

LUOHU police arrested a suspect surnamed Bai in Handan, Hebei Province, for allegedly cheating online buyers with fake tickets to a Jay Chow concert this April.

After the buyers transferred the money via WeChat or Alipay, the man filled in their addresses on blank courier bills and sent photos of the bills as evidence before deleting the buyers from his phone.

The tickets cost between 50 and 2,000 yuan (US$290). More than 40 people in Guangdong including 20 in Shenzhen were cheated.

Police confirmed the identity of Bai through photos which were captured by cameras where he withdrew the money from ATMs.

Book delivery

SHENZHEN Library will have books borrowed by residents online delivered to the borrowers starting today, the first day of the Library Service Promotion Week.

Under the new service launched by the library, readers can choose the service when they borrow Chinese-language books on the website or the WeChat public account of Shenzhen Library. Readers can get their own QR code by tying the number on their reader card to the app of the library. The QR code can then be used as an electronic card, replacing the traditional card.
