Threat to flights

A MAN was detained for seven days for flying a drone in the controlled aerial area which poses a threat to flights.

The man, Yu, 29, was flying the drone at the intersection of Qianwan No. 3 Road and Menghai Boulevard in Qianhai on Tuesday when he was detained.

According to relevant regulations, the area within 10 kilometers of the central line of the runway and 20 kilometers of both ends of the runway constitutes the aerial clearance area for flights.

Any individual, unit or organization is forbidden from engaging in activities such as flying sky lanterns, balloons, drones, aero boats or model planes that may threaten flights.

Ex-official probed

ZHANG JIANPING, former head of Nanshan’s civil affairs bureau, was criminally detained for allegedly being involved in bribery, according to a notice issued by Shenzhen People’s Procuratorate on Saturday.

Zhang was removed from his post in July last year and received an internal warning from the Party for taking gifts from others. One month after he was removed from his post, Zhang was caught drunk driving in Nanshan District and was detained. He was later released on bail, pending trial.

Zhang was appointed director of the civil affairs bureau in Nanshan in September 2010.

Fugitive caught

A FUGITIVE who had been on the run for more than 10 years for robbery was caught by Luohu police last week. The suspect, Zhuang, a native of Huilai, Guangdong Province, participated in a robbery in 2006.

Zhuang escaped to Hainan, changed his name, and applied for a new hukou and ID in 2011 as his father’s permanent residence permit had been registered in Hainan Province.

In April, Luohu police found a man in Shenzhen, Zhuang Congye, who looked similar to the suspect Zhuang, who participated in the robbery a decade ago. Police later caught Zhuang in a fast-food restaurant he was operating in Shenzhen.
