BPPV patient

A WOMAN who had suffered from dizziness, and occasional vomit nausea, for a decade, was diagnosed with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) and treated at Shenzhen Hospital of Southern Medical University.

There are more than 80 kinds of diseases that could lead to dizziness, so BPPV is easy to mistakenly diagnose.

Online dating scams

THREE people were caught by Longgang police for being involved in more than 20 online dating scams recently.

Pinghu Police Station received a report April 3 from a woman surnamed Tian, saying that she had been cheated out of 10,000 yuan (US$1,451) by a man she was dating online. Police arrested the suspect, Huang, in Guigang City in Guangxi on May 17 after a month-long investigation and later arrested the ringleader, Meng, and his wife in Nanning, capital of Guangxi.

The three admitted to cheating people via online dating. After winning their victim’s trust, Huang and Meng would fabricate different excuses or emergencies to swindle money from the victims. Meng’s wife Li helped to withdraw money from banks by wearing helmets and masks.

Illegal ticket offices

LAW enforcement officers with Shenzhen transport commission recently closed three offices that had been illegally selling bus tickets in Fuyong and Fuhai subdistricts, Bao’an District recently.

The ticket offices hid in the back streets of neighborhoods where migrant workers gather. They arranged for migrant workers to take non-locally registered buses, or tourism buses, for lower fares.
