Cloudy weather

THE weather will be cloudy with occasional showers Friday and the temperature will range between 23 and 30 degrees Celsius, the Shenzhen Meteorological Observatory said Thursday.

It will continue to be cloudy from Saturday to Monday, with some sunny periods. It will be cloudy with showers Tuesday for the Dragon Boat Festival.

Holiday expressway

THE Shenzhen transport commission is predicting that the heavy expressway traffic for Dragon Boat Festival travel will start around 5 p.m. Saturday.

The Shenzhen sections of five expressways including Meiguan, Yanba, Longda, Yanpai and Nanguang will be toll-free, despite the fact that the festival isn’t counted among the four holidays for which China implements a national toll- free policy.

The congested sections include the Baiyunzai and Houmen section of G15, the Shiba-Reshui section of G25, the Chang’an-Taiping section of G15 and the Yuebei Station-Pingshibei section of G4.

The Humen Bridge section of G9411 is often congested and the commission advised drivers traveling in the direction of Zhuhai, Zhongshan and Zhanjiang to take the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Riverside Expressway or Guangzhou-Shenzhen Expressway before taking Guangzhou No. 2 North Ring Road.

Metro service

SHENZHEN Metro service will be extended by one hour to midnight Saturday and Sunday for Dragon Boat Festival holidaymakers, according to Metro operators.

Bribery charge

THE former chairman of Shenzhen Airport Property Development Co., a man surnamed Zhang, will soon be prosecuted on the charge of allegedly taking bribes, Shenzhen People’s Procuratorate said on its official WeChat account.

Zhang was put under investigation last November.
