‘Ugly Duckling’

Audience members will be electrified by the U.S. Lightwire Theater’s rendition of “The Ugly Duckling” in Longgang. Led by choreographer/director/dancer Ian Carney, the four-person cast swirls and stomps through a high-spirited performance. The show is performed in total darkness, illuminated only by the thin light strips that outline the mechanical costumes worn by the dancers.

Little Hakka

The Little Hakka International Picture Book Competition includes a picture book exhibition and a Hakka folk culture exhibition. More than 300 national and international award-winning picture books are on display at Fenghuang Valley. Every Sunday afternoon this month, lectures and interactive workshops on picture books will be held.

‘Metamorphosis’

Artworks ranging from sculptures, videos to installations are on display in memory of Huang Zhuan, renowned Chinese art historian, critic and curator. Initiated by Huang’s artist friends, the exhibition “Metamorphosis” features contemporary works selected from past exhibitions curated by Huang, plus a few new works.

Video exhibition

The “In Search of Global Poetry: Videos From the Han Nefkens Collection” showcases 12 videos created by artists from different countries. The videos are on loan from Han Nefkens Foundation, a private nonprofit organization that supports contemporary creative projects.
