A REPORT released by ymatou.com, an overseas shopping website, showed that Shenzhen ranked ninth nationwide regarding its residents’ spending on overseas products, according to sznews.com.

The report showed that in Shenzhen overseas shopping had soared the most rapidly among the top 10 cities with highest spending on overseas products in China over the past year. The per-item expenditure on overseas products in Shenzhen reached 515 yuan (US$75.78), the second-highest nationwide.

The overseas brands that are most favored by Shenzheners included LV, Prada, Bottega Veneta, Versace and MK. Shenzhen customers also prefer high-end skincare brands such as Laduree, SK-II and Tom Ford.

Data from the website showed that haute couture and handbags were the main overseas products bought by female customers in Shenzhen, and they tended to buy more capacious handbags, such as Boston bags or tote bags.

According to the report, Shenzheners also like to buy high value-added products such as fine jewelry, bags and suitcases with collectable value. As a cross-border e-commerce website, ymatou.com provides more than 800,000 products from over 83 countries to Chinese customers per day, according to the report. (Zhang Yang)
