Official probed

ZHANG LIANHUI, former director with the Nanshan District Civil Affairs Bureau, was probed for alleged corruption, Shenzhen Municipal People’s Procuratorate said on its official microblog recently.

Zhang once worked as Party chief and director with Nanshan Subdistrict in Nanshan District.

ATM attacker

POLICE are searching for a man who allegedly smashed an ATM with a hammer after he was unable to pay an 88-yuan (US$13) massage fee to a club in Dalang, Longhua District.

The man said he had forgotten his bank card’s password and left his watch, wallet and bank cards in the club and promised to pay the money the following day. However, he had found a hammer at a convenient shop and smashed the ATM with it.

The man had escaped before police arrived.

Suicide threat

A WOMAN in her 50s threatened to commit suicide to force officers at Nanhu Police Station in Luohu District to catch a man whom she’d had casual sex with.

The woman, identified as Shi, 51, got to know the man surnamed Zhang through WeChat. Being worried of contracting HIV, Shi asked the police to arrest the man, saying that otherwise she would commit suicide at the police station.

Police managed to grab the knife from Shi despite her resistance and accompanied her to have a medical check, which revealed that Shi was HIV negative. An investigation showed that the man was a drug addict and police are searching for him.

9 injured

NINE people were injured in an accident on the Shajing section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Expressway that involved four vehicles.

One of the injured was in critical, but stable condition.
