Traffic tragedy

A BUS, which lost control on Bao’an Boulevard on Monday, caused the death of a pedestrian and damage to a car parked on the roadside, according to Shenzhen traffic police yesterday.

Police have ruled out driving under the influence of drugs or DUI. The driver claimed that he was feeling unwell when he lost control of the bus.

The accident is still under investigation.

Electric shock

A WOMAN surnamed Wang was killed by an electric shock when she was taking a shower Sunday night, according to police.

The accident was reported by her flatmate, who refused to be named. The tenant called the police when he found that Wang was lying on the ground and had already lost all signs of life. He surmised that her death had been caused by an electrical leak from the water heater.

A doctor confirmed Wang’s death at the scene, despite all rescue efforts.

Sewer accident

THREE workmen were trapped while they were working in the sewer near Tantou Village in Bao’an on Monday, leaving two dead.

According to the Bao’an District Environmental Protection and Water Supplies Bureau, a preliminary investigation showed that the three workers had entered the sewers without permission.

They possibly suffered from methane poisoning. Only one man survived with a minor wound, while the other two died in a hospital.

After the incident, Bao’an District Government instructed the authority to investigate the cause of the accident and further improve the administration of water supply construction, so that more incidents like this one may be prevented.
