THE traffic police shared the violation data of 17,537 riders of bikes and tricycles with app-based bike operators over the past 11 days since it adopted a rule that suspends violators from using shared-bike services.
Violations involving app-based bike riders, mostly committed by ofo and Mobike riders, reached 3,165, accounting for 54.8 percent of all bike violations.
“We have shared the information with the operators and required them to remind their users that the suspension rule will be implemented in July following a grace period,” said Gao Hao, deputy chief of the parking lot management section of Shenzhen traffic police.
Statistics showed that more than half of the violations took place in Luohu and Futian. The number of violations on Shennan Road East, Dongmen Road and Minzhi Boulevard saw the most violations.
Starting in July, bike riders caught with one violation will be suspended from using the bikes for a week, with two violations leading to a month suspension, and three violations or more resulting in a six-month suspension.
