THE city will start the renovation of the Baishizhou urban village, which is located in the upmarket Overseas Chinese Town area in Nanshan District and houses around 150,000 people.
According to the renovation plan released by the city’s planning and land resources commission for public opinion, Shahe No. 5 Village, which covers 480,000 square meters, has been included in the city’s renovation projects.
The urban renewal project in the village will see various new buildings with a total floor area of 3.48 million square meters, including government-subsidized apartments, business and office structures, public facilities like kindergartens, community clinics, cultural and sports centers and elderly nursing centers, according to the plan.
Baishizhou is the largest urban village in the city. In a land area of 0.6 square kilometers, there are 2,527 buildings and 50,473 apartments being rented to around 150,000 people.
The public can lookup the details of the renovation plan at http://zse.szpl.gov.cn and offer suggestions by July 15.
