Monthlong rain rumor denied

SHENZHEN Meteorological Observatory refuted a rumor circulating online Monday night, saying a post claiming rain would continue for about a month in the city was not true.

An official weather forecast will clearly state the date of the weather release and the name of the observatory. The post online that says the weather will continue to be wet with light or heavy rain between yesterday and July 16 is untrue, the observatory said.

The observatory suggested that residents use an official weather website, app or WeChat to get updates on weather information.

The observatory said the southwest monsoon has been active over the past two weeks, bringing substantial rainfall to the city. The rain will weaken tomorrow after a thunderstorm and heavy rain yesterday and today. The weather will be overcast with occasional showers tomorrow and Friday as the subtropical high pressure system starts to take control.

The weather will be cloudy with showers and sunny periods Saturday and Sunday during the high school entrance examination period.
