Camera burglary
LUOHU police last month arrested two suspects for allegedly stealing seven cameras at weddings.
The suspects, identified as Li and Xiao, met in 2015 and began conspiring to steal electronic products at weddings and sell them through an electronic product recycling business in Huaqiangbei.
In the latest case, Xiao stole a camera valued at over 20,000 yuan (US$2,941) at a wedding reception in Luohu District and Xiao sold the booty to Li for 10,000 yuan, which Li then sold for 11,500 yuan to a customer.
Xiao, 23, was caught May 31 in an apartment in Longgang District. Acting on his information, police arrested the 33-year-old Li at a telecommunications products market in Futian District.
New intl. school
A NEW private school, Hong-jindi International School, was put into use in Pingshan District on Tuesday, offering nine-year education from primary to junior middle school. The school also admits students from Macao and Hong Kong, who will acquire student status recognized by the Shenzhen Municipal Education Bureau upon graduation.
The school also offers special classes to Hong Kong and Macao students so they can adapt to Hong Kong’s education system.
iPhone smuggling
SHATOUJIAO customs seized 60 iPhone 6s at a market value of 200,000 yuan from the trunk of a car on Zhongying Street.
On June 18, an alarm went off when a man drove the sedan through the customs passage on to mainland. During an examination, unusual scratches on the tool box caught an officer’s attention. The officer tapped on the tool box and the deep and low sound was different than a normal box containing tools. They found a black cloth bag that contained 60 iPhone 6s.
