Starting June 25, Teacher Coffee is offering free English classes every Sunday and Thursday nights. No need to sign up and no need to be shy.

The class is an open meetup for those who wouldn’t normally get the opportunity to be around foreigners. The class will include an ice breaker, simple introductions and general conversation in a comfortable environment with several foreigners with teaching backgrounds.

“It is an educational yet fun event and so will be informal. It will be two hours of English chit chat, coffee drinking, friend making and confidence building,” said the organizer Yaz Ijaz.

Ijaz, who was a police officer in London, England, before moving to Bao’an two years ago, said opening a coffee shop was always something he wanted to do after having lived in trendy Shoreditch, East London, where coffee culture is everywhere.

Time: 4-6 p.m., Sundays; 7-9 p.m., Thursdays (starting June 25)
