More trains

SHENZHEN railway authority will add a train from Shenzhen Railway Station to Xi’an and three temporary round-trip trains from the city’s east railway station to Maoming, Nanxiong and Nanchang in the new operation schedule that will take effect July 1.

Schedules of trains to Jiujiang, Changsha, Suzhou, Chengdu and Kunming from Shenzhen Railway Station have been slightly adjusted.

Shenzhen Railway Station estimates it will handle 4.49 million passengers during the summer transport season that ends Aug. 31.

Overloading penalty

SHENZHEN Nanshan traffic police intercepted a van loaded with 17 people on the Shahe West Road section of Beihuan Boulevard on Saturday. The driver was fined 200 yuan (US$29.26) and had six penalty points added to his license for overloading.

Drug trafficking

LUOHU police busted a drug trafficking case that involved more than 1,000 kilograms of methamphetamine (meth).

Qingshuihe Police Station received a tip-off indicating that a drug trafficker was suspected of planning to send a batch of meth to other provinces via a courier service. The drugs were placed in over 60 cell phone chargers, labeled as cell phone parts and delivered to a buyer in Liaoning.

The suspect was arrested June 8 and police found some drugs on his body.

Cough syrup

THE city’s procuratorate has dropped drug trafficking charges against a 60-year-old man, after considering his limited social significance and family situation.

The man carried two bottles of cough syrup to enter Shenzhen from Hong Kong on June 7. The cough syrup is listed as a controlled drug as it contains codeine.
