License plate lottery

A TOTAL of 697,290 applicants took part in a lucky draw for 2,933 plates for individuals in the monthly lottery Monday. Only 4.2 out of every 1,000 applicants have a chance at a plate, statistics from the city’s car quota administration center showed.

Drunken driving

A MAN surnamed Su was arrested for drunken driving Sunday.

Su was intercepted by police at a roadside inspection on Nigang Road in Luohu District. A breath analyzer showed that the alcohol content in Su’s blood had reached 87mgs/100mls. A blood test conducted later showed the alcohol content had reached 94.44mgs/100mls.

Su faces a jail term of up to six months and he is disqualified from applying for a license for five years.

Family reunion

A 70-YEAR-OLD man and his 1-year-old grandson were found Monday, after being missing for nearly 17 hours.

The old man suffers from brain atrophy.
