Blood sample tagged with wrong name
    2017-June-29  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A RESIDENT complained online that his blood sample had been tagged with another person’s name after he had a blood test done at Shenzhen Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital on June 21, the Shenzhen Metropolis Daily reported yesterday.

The resident said in the post that he had a blood test done at the hospital in the morning but hadn’t received the result at 3 p.m. when he was told that his blood sample hadn’t been tested because it “had the wrong name.”

The resident said the nurse found his blood sample, but it was labeled with another person’s name. According to the medical staff, the names got mixed up because there was something wrong with the computer system, but they were certain that the blood sample belonged to the resident.

“The medical staff said they could still do the test for me, but the blood sample had another person’s name, so it was impossible for me to confirm my blood,” the resident said.

According to the hospital’s spokesperson, the blood sample did belong to the patient and the mix up was caused by a computer crash. He said the hospital’s staff failed to reach the patient immediately after they discovered the mistake because the patient hadn’t left his phone number at the hospital.

The spokesperson said the patient accepted the hospital’s apology Tuesday and has received a refund. (Zhang Yang)
