Shekou Maritime Museum opens for free

Shekou Maritime Museum opened to the public for free last week. The museum, which covers an area of 800 square meters, has 1,000 specimens exhibited in six categories and serves as the city’s comprehensive maritime education base.

Highlighted specimens include Chinese white dolphins and rare sea snails, such as tribacna, cassis cornuta, charonia tritonis, cypraecassis rufa and nautiloids.

Visitors can experience the undersea world with the museum’s complete array of audio, video and VR technologies and learn about the development of Shekou from a fishing village to a thriving port, over the past decades.

Admission: Free

Opening hours: 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., 2:30-6:30 p.m., closed Mondays

Venue: Shekou Maritime Museum, beside Shekou Building, intersection of Shiyun and Nanshui roads, Nanshan District (南山区石云路与南水路交会处蛇口大厦旁蛇口海洋博物馆)

Metro: Line 2, Dongjiaotou Station (东角头站), Exit A
