Five Metro lines to link with Huizhou

    2017-July-11  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

FIVE Metro lines in Shenzhen, including Lines 14, 21, 8, 16 and 19, will be connected with lines in Huizhou, according to Huizhou’s planning authority, which responded online to local residents recently.

The extension plan of Line 14 to Huizhou is waiting for the approval of the State Council and construction will start following approval.

Shenzhen and Huizhou will initiate research on extending Line 21 to Xinxu Township in Huiyang District and Line 16 to Daya Bay in Huiyang District. Lines 8 and 19 will also be extended to Huizhou City.

Besides the five Metro lines, the China Railway Corp. recently approved simultaneous construction of the reserved Zhongkai Station on the Ganzhou-Shenzhen high-speed rail line, which has stations in Huizhou including Huizhou North Station, Boluo North Station and Zhongkai Station.

Zhongkai Station is an important station on the 432-km Ganzhou-Shenzhen High-speed Railway, part of the Beijing-Hong Kong high-speed rail line, one of the eight horizontal high-speed railways in China’s railway network. Work on the project will be completed by 2020.

Huizhou North Railway Station will be an interchange station for the Ganzhou-Shenzhen High-speed Railway and the Guangzhou-Shanwei High-speed Railway. It is expected to become one of eastern Guangdong’s railway transport hubs.

After the two railways are completed in 2020, travelers in Huizhou will be able to reach Shenzhen, Dongguan, Heyuan, Shanwei and Guangzhou in 30 minutes.

Shenzhen and Huizhou are now researching the possibility of an inter-city railway, and the Xiamen-Shenzhen railway, which goes through Huizhou City, has been put into use.
