Luggage regulation

PASSENGERS won’t be allowed to board a flight with overweight, oversize or extra carry-on luggage starting today and instead will be made to consign the luggage, sources from the Shenzhen airport said.

Two carry-on items are allowed for each first-class ticket holder, and one carry-on item — within 20x40x55cm and 5 kg — is allowed for each economy-class passenger.

The airport is also calling on passengers to leave more time for check-in in case they have luggage that fails to meet the requirements.

Online drug trafficking

NANSHAN police recently arrested a suspect involved in online drug trafficking of 23.62 grams of marijuana.

The Xili Police Station received a report about marijuana being sold online and delivered via courier service in June. An investigation led investigators to the suspect in Mianyang, Sichuan Province, who was known by an alias and switched between different social network accounts to traffick the drugs.

The 25-year-old suspect confessed to the charge of drug trafficking.

He has been taken into custody.

Private casino

A 34-YEAR-OLD suspect surnamed Zou was arrested Sunday for operating a private casino.

According to police, Zou has been operating the private casino with associates in a remote rural area of Meizhou, Guangdong Province since May last year. The casino sees scores of gamblers every day. Zou had taken in 50,000 yuan (US$7,247) for his share in organizing the gambling operation during the seven days before it was exposed. He was caught Sunday after Shenzhen police were tipped off that Zou had appeared at Shenzhen Railway Station.
