SHENZHEN’S urban planning, land and resources commission is planning to set up a Metro station on Line 24 on Xinzhou Road to improve the traffic near Peking University Shenzhen Hospital and the Jingtian area in Futian District.

According to the city’s rail transportation network plan between 2016 and 2030, Peking University Shenzhen Hospital has been taken into consideration.

Metro Line 24, which is still in the planning stage, will have a station on Xinzhou Road to the west of Peking University Shenzhen Hospital. Metro riders will be able to walk directly to the hospital after exiting from the station. The stop will help relieve traffic congestion during rush hours at Peking University Shenzhen Hospital and the intersection of Lianhua and Xinzhou roads.

Xiao Youmei and other deputies to Shenzhen’s legislature suggested setting up a Metro station and improving traffic conditions at the intersection of Xinzhou Road and Lianhua Road at the annual session of the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Congress earlier this year.

In response to suggestions from lawmakers, the urban planning authority said public service facilities, such as hospitals and schools, would be given priority in the planning of the city’s Metro system.

Although there are already two Metro lines, Lines 2 and 4, in the Jingtian and Lianhuabei areas, riders have to walk more than 1 kilometer to the hospital.

To relieve congestion, Shenzhen police have set up tidal lanes at the intersection of Xinzhou Road and Lianhua Road, and the city’s transport commission is planning to build footbridges over and a tunnel under Xinzhou Road for pedestrians.

The plan will be finished before the end of the year.

Metro Line 24, which is being planned and is seeking public suggestions, will run 32.8 kilometers from Qianhai to Luohu, passing Shenzhen High-Tech Industrial Park, OCT, Huangmugang and Bagualing.
