Hotel reopens after renovation
    2017-July-12  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

HAVING undergone more than three renovations, the Hilton Shenzhen Shekou Nanhai hotel in Nanshan District reopened Monday with even higher-class interior design, restaurants and bay-view rooms, the Southern Metropolis Daily reported.

The hotel was the first international luxurious hotel to enter the city, embedding itself in the memories of Shekou of many Shenzhen residents. It was also Shenzhen’s first hotel to be assigned with the mission to accommodate foreign official guests under the authority’s arrangement.

Located at 1177 Wanghai Road in Nanshan District, the hotel was built by China Merchants Group (CMG) in 1983. Yuan Geng, CMG’s deputy chairman of the board was also the hotel’s first chairman of the board. Yuan and the first general manager of the hotel, Yang Bingzheng, proposed the construction of the 5-start hotel in Shekou, labeling it as the most luxurious hotel of its time.

The hotel was built for a mission assigned by the Chinese Government when approximately 300 petrol experts from all around the world were invited to stay in Shekou to conduct petroleum prospecting in the South China Sea in 1982.

While the exterior of the building remained the same, the hotel underwent an interior renovation, adding three chic restaurants, and better entertainment and fitness equipment as well as 122 suites and 31 sets of apartments with towering views of Shenzhen Bay.

The renovated hotel features an array of more relaxed lifestyle functions, such as a fitness center with badminton, basketball, tennis and volley ball courts. It has an outdoor pool where water sports and parties can be held.

A 765-square-meter playground provides an outdoor space for children as well as educational programs or family recreation.

For those who are looking for meeting venues, the hotel offers plenty of spaces, including one banquet room, two meeting rooms and an outdoor terrace for large gatherings. All of the meeting venues feature the latest audio equipment, gourmet services and Wi-Fi.

There are three restaurants, with both Chinese and Western cuisines, in the hotel, catering to customers from all around the globe. (Zhang Qian)
