Univ. joins hands with Bao’an

THE Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) inked a deal Sunday with the Bao’an District Government to cooperate in science and technology, education and talent cultivation.

The two sides will jointly establish a technology transfer center, a general aviation base and affiliated schools, enhance coordinated innovation in government, industry, education and research, and participate in technology research, transfer and pollution prevention work.

The technology transfer center will introduce innovation achievements of SUSTech and its global partners and talents in intelligent manufacturing, big data to satisfy the needs of Bao’an enterprises.

In the education sector, the two sides will establish a State-level micro-electronics academy, SUSTech-MIT Mechanical Engineering Lab. The lab will be a service platform for full cooperation between SUSTech and MIT in intelligent robotics, 3-D printing, advanced manufacturing, environment engineering and quantum calculation.

The two sides will also establish an affiliated high school to SUSTech.

SUSTech will establish a talent training base by giving priority to cultivable local talents and professionals.

SUSTech will introduce five full-time academicians and 10 experts under the National Recruitment Program for Global Talents to the district in three years to provide intelligent support for Bao’an’s industrial development and scientific innovation.

Bao’an District will offer police support for housing, children education and medical care for talents introduced by SUSTech to the district.

“I believe we can see the birth of a high-level, internationalized and research college in Shenzhen,” Guo Yurong, Party chief of SUSTech, said at the signing ceremony.

“The development of Bao’an needs support from universities like SUSTech which has an innovative and pioneering spirit. Through the cooperation, Bao’an’s undertakings in science and technology, industry and talents will scale new highs,” said Huang Min, Bao’an’s Party chief.

Bao’an will speed up construction of Shenzhen No.12 High School by referring to the mode of SUSTech Experimental Education Group to congregate, multiply education resources, and thus to push forward development of Bao’an education.
