DUI leads to deaths
AN electric bike driver surnamed Zhou, 28, and rider surnamed Huang, 37, were killed at the scene in a crash with a car on Beihuan Boulevard near Kaileiston Hotel in Gongming Subdistrict, Guangming New Area, on Sunday night.
An investigation showed the 27-year-old car driver, surnamed Jian, was driving under the influence of alcohol and hit the electric bike going in the same direction on the road.
A test showed Jian’s alcohol content in blood reached 187 milligrams per 100 milliliters.

THE proportion of males to females in the city by the end of 2015 was 115.56:100, according to statistics released by the Shenzhen’s statistics bureau.
The permanent population was more than 11.37 million by the end of 2015. Among the 3.69 million people with Shenzhen hukou, 1.9 million were males and 1.79 million were females.
Failed assault
A FEMALE tenant in Nanshan District was allegedly assaulted in a failed attempt at sexual assault by her landlord earlier this month, according to a report by Shenzhen TV.
The woman had forgotten to lock her door from the inside before she went to sleep July 4. The landlord used a spare key to enter the room in the darkness and attempted to sexually assault her. The woman cried out for help and bit the landlord before he fled. The landlord has been arrested by police.
