Man detained

A MAN was detained for switching out the license plate of his car on Nanguang Expressway on Sunday morning.

His illegal act was seen by a traffic policeman who was on patrol. The man refused to accept an inspection and tried to drive away. Another suspect in the car fled the scene.

The investigation of the case continues.

Bus station corruption

A FORMER cashier of Guanlan Bus Station in Longhua District was sentenced to 10 years in prison by a Shenzhen court after she was found guilty of embezzling public funds of about 9.27 million yuan (US$1.36 million) to buy lottery tickets.

After she was detained, the cashier accused the bus station’s head, surnamed Tong, of corruption. Tong was later sentenced to two years in prison in December last year.

Scoliosis prevalence

OFFICIAL data from the Shenzhen Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital showed that 6 percent of 30,000 students between 12 and 14 years old in Luohu, Nanshan and Futian districts were suffering from scoliosis in 2013, while the prevalence of scoliosis was only 2 to 4 percent overseas.

As well, scoliosis screenings for 200,000 students in these three districts in 2016 showed that the prevalence of scoliosis was three times of that overseas.

E-bay street

THE E-bay Street in Shenzhen Bay Science and Technology Ecology Park in Nanshan District opened recently with more than 60 businesses having moved in.

The E-bay Street will be a business community focusing on science and the culture industry. The park will introduce 5,000 enterprises and 200 shops, serving more than 100,000 people, when the office buildings are completed.
