5 detained for disrupting public order at airport
    2017-July-19  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

FIVE people have been held under administrative detention by the police at Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport this year for causing disturbances at the airport, the Southern Metropolis Daily reported yesterday.

The airport police have handled six cases involving flight delays at the airport this year, while seven air travelers were held responsible for disturbing the public order at the airport after their flights were canceled or delayed due to bad weather. Five of them were held under administrative detention, while the other two were asked to pay a fine.

A number of flights have been delayed at the Shenzhen airport since the rainy season arrived in late May.

After being stranded at the airport for extended periods of time, some passengers have lost their patience and taken extreme measures to express their grievances, causing disturbances at the airport, according to the report.

The airport police have enhanced information analysis and patrolling to maintain public order at the airport. Those vandalizing airport facilities, forcibly occupying boarding gates or abusing and hitting airport staff will be held legally responsible.
