3.7m yuan in rewards
THE city’s traffic police have given out 3.7 million yuan (US$547,943) in cash rewards via WeChat and Alipay payments to residents for tips that led to the prosecution of traffic violations since 2016. In the first half of this year, traffic police received over 400,000 tips and offered a total of 2.3 million yuan in rewards.
Drunk driver
ON Monday evening, a driver illegally parked his car on Dansha Road and was given a ticket by traffic patrollers. The driver was outraged and hit the patrollers’ motorcycles with his car, but the two officers didn’t sustain any injuries. The driver’s breath test at the scene showed that his blood alcohol level was 104 milligrams per 100 milliliters of blood. The driver was brought to a hospital for a blood test, and an investigation of the case continues.
Phone thieves
TWO women borrowed a man’s phone in Longhua District to make a call June 26 and then stole the phone when the man let down his guard. Following an investigation, police detained nine suspects on a bus in Guanlan on July 10. The suspects have been involved in at least 28 cases of phone theft in Shenzhen and Dongguan. The investigation continues.
