HIKERS who use the coastal trail between Dongchong beach and Xichong beach on the Dapeng Peninsula, one of the eight most beautiful coastlines in China, are required to register on the official public WeChat account of the Dapeng tourism authority, “大鹏文旅通,” from September.
Nan’ao Subdistrict and the local communities in Dapeng New Area will set up service stations at trailheads on the two beaches to check for registration, offer safety tips and serve as environmental volunteer stations.
People intending to hike the trail need to register the time they will hike, the number of people, their ages and health conditions, and whether they have a guide. Hiking alone will be prohibited, according to the outdoor sports white book released by the Dapeng government at the launch of its annual international outdoor carnival Sunday.
The white book is said to be the first guide book regulating outdoor sports in the country.
The book, which regulates outdoor sports in Dapeng by categorizing different natural resources and grading types of sports, provides a guide for the marketization and industrialization of outdoor sports and sets an example for outdoor activities in China by promoting a replicable and pragmatic Tourism Plus Outdoor business model for the Dapeng Peninsula.
The book divides Dapeng’s natural resources into four use categories, including mountaineering, marine sports, aviation and greenway sports.
Mountaineering resources will be divided into different sections such as tourism, camping, hiking, exploring and core conservation areas.
The marine sports area will be divided into surfing, boating, fishing, yachting and coral protection areas.
This year’s carnival, which runs until Dec. 15, is focused on outdoor activities, such as marathons, mountaineering, rock climbing, boating, diving, swimming, beach volleyball and aerial gliding. The Shenzhen First International Women Beach Volley Competition will invite national teams of China, Brazil, New Zealand and Germany. (Han Ximin)
