I live in the southern part of China, and we all know the climate here is hot and wet, with lots of rainy days. Unfortunately, one day when I was on my way home from school, it suddenly began to rain. At first it was fine, because it’s really common to have a little rain here. However, after a while, it began to rain much more heavily than before, almost like water pouring down from the sky! I have no idea how I got home. The rain was so heavy that I couldn’t even move an inch. I was stuck in this horrible situation; I was totally wet. Why didn’t I use my umbrella? Because I didn’t bring it with me! I was panicked and hopeless. The only thing I could do at that time was to try my best to walk home as quickly as possible, annoyed and depressed. I saw that a typhoon had just reached the region where I live on TV after I got home. When I got home, my mum nearly jumped out of her skin, and then she laughed at me. On the morning of that day, when the typhoon was to arrive, I hadn’t taken my mother’s advice to bring an umbrella, because I thought it would be a nice day, since the sun was shining brightly outside at that time. Now, I’ve realized that we should not only take umbrellas with us in case of bad weather, but also take advice from our parents. |
