Ticket evaders

SHENZHEN Metro operators caught 242 ticket evaders in three days between Tuesday and Thursday.

The riders who evaded buying tickets had different excuses. One woman claimed she had mistakenly taken her daughter’s Shenzhentong card, and one girl followed her sister out through a turnstile since she had lost her token.

Official probed

A FORMER director of Futian’s housing and construction bureau surnamed Chen was criminally detained for allegedly taking bribes, according to a public notice of Shenzhen’s procuratorate.

Chen had once been a director of the Futian District Government Procurement Center.

Corridor progress

THE designs of the eastern artificial island for the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Corridor, including the tunnels within its area, passed expert reviews last week, according to Guangdong Transportation Group.

The corridor, which links Shenzhen and Zhongshan through 24 km of tunnels and a bridge spanning the Pearl River, will be completed in 2024. It is connected to Jihe Expressway in Shenzhen and Zhongshan-Kaiping Expressway in Zhongshan City.
