A 27-YEAR-OLD woman has been held under criminal detention by police after she allegedly forged her household registration to make herself eligible to buy an apartment, the Southern Metropolis Daily reported Monday.
The woman, surnamed Yan, registered the relocation of her residence with Qingshuihe Police Station in Luohu District on Friday. However, police officers found that the information on Yan’s household registration was inconsistent with the information filed in the police’s online system.
The household registration submitted by Yan was issued by Lianhua Police Station on May 19, and was handled by a police officer named Li Ting. The police detained Yan after they found that there wasn’t a police officer named Li Ting at Lianhua Police Station, and the station wouldn’t issue the household registration for Yan.
During an interrogation, Yan confessed that she had entrusted a realty agency to forge the household registration to change her marital status from “married” to “divorced” so that she would be eligible to buy another apartment under the city’s home-purchase restriction policies.
Yan is being held under criminal detention by the police. The investigation of the case continues.
