Traffic police check for violations in Dapeng New Area over the weekend. High temperatures over the weekend caused the worst congestion in the east of the city this year as more than 70,000 drivers chose to drive to the Dapeng coast to escape the heat. More than 100 drivers were fined for disobeying traffic rules. According to police, the vehicle flow on Xiangxi Road, the only road linking Dongchong and Xichong in Dapeng, on Saturday lasted until 4 a.m. Sunday. However, before police had time to rest, traffic on Xiangxi Road began flowing in both directions at around 10 a.m. Sunday.
