Man killed in collision
A CAR collided with an electric bicycle at a pedestrian crossing in Guangming New Area on Monday, causing the death of the man riding the electric bicycle.
According to the police, both were suspected of violating traffic rules. The car driver didn’t slow down as he passed the intersection, while the owner of the unlicensed electric bicycle didn’t get off his vehicle to cross the road. The latter was injured in the accident and was taken to the hospital, but died afterwards.
Man stung by jellyfish
A MAN was stung by jellyfish while swimming in the sea in Yantian District on Sunday.
He immediately called for help from the on-duty police in Meisha Subdistrict. An auxiliary police officer surnamed Liu promptly responded and drove him to Meisha Hospital for medical treatment.
The man reportedly didn’t sustain life-threatening injuries.
More rain
THE weather will be cloudy with intermittent showers or thunderstorms from today to Friday, the Shenzhen Meteorological Observatory said yesterday.
It will be clear and cloudy from Saturday to Tuesday with short periods of showers in some areas, the observatory said.
More Metro lines
FIVE Metro lines, namely Lines 4, 10, 22 and 27 as well as the southward extension of Line 6 will pass through Longhua District, according to the latest Metro construction plan.
Metro Line 22 will connect with Futian and Luohu districts via Minzhi Boulevard while Line 27 will connect Longhua with Nanshan District.
WeChat rescue
LONGGANG police found a 13-year-old teenager who had gone missing for seven hours with the help of WeChat users.
Longgang police sent a notice for help on its official WeChat account Monday afternoon, asking WeChat users to look for a 13-year-old teenager who had come from Jiangxi Province to visit his parents during the summer holiday. The teenager felt bored and wanted to visit his relatives living nearby, but he lost his way.
Police checked videos after receiving a report from the parents and issued a notice on its microblog and official WeChat account to call for the public’s assistance.
The teenager was later found at the entrance of CUHK (Shenzhen).
