Does school kill creativity? To this question, my answer is, “Yes, it does.”

What is creativity? It’s something we can find in a ridiculous picture drawn by a kid, or a picturesque scene drawn by an artist. Maybe it’s something we can see in a time-consuming innovation.

Creativity has brought numerous amazing things to our world. And what gives a kid creativity? Does it depend on teachers or parents?

No, never. It just needs boundless imagination and a fantastic new idea, and then creativity can be achieved right away.

What’s the goal of going to school? I’m sure the most important thing is to get education. How can a teacher teach knowledge to so many students at once? He or she can do it at school. The mission of a school is to help teachers educate students, teach them discipline and accompany kids in a homogenous environment so that they must obey the rules and complete their homework assigned by their teachers.

They can’t say no to their teachers, and they aren’t allowed to open their minds and do anything other than what they are instructed to do.

They can’t do anything different or in their own way. Why? Because a school teaches you how to study, instead of doing other things that aren’t related to your studies.

Certainly, schools are necessary for the society. A school is a good platform for us to acquire knowledge, but sadly, it truly limits our thinking and our time. It is completely different from the conditions we need to train our creativity.

Why did Steve Jobs, Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg all drop out of school? They had enough basic knowledge, and they needed time to create a better world. They didn’t feel that they needed to develop their creativity at school, so they left school.

Although they were students, they realized, “Oh, this school is not a place that can help me become more creative. I should leave it.” And they did.

In conclusion, we still need to learn knowledge at school, but school sometimes limits our thinking and kills our creativity.

Therefore, after we have learned enough of knowledge, we can drop out of school if we want to create something.
