SEVERAL Shenzhen firms made it into the top 100 of a list of the Top 500 corporations in China recently released by Fortune China, the Chinese version of the Fortune magazine, the Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported.
The top three places went to Sinopec Group, PetroChina and China State Construction Engineering Corp. (CSCEC), while some Shenzhen companies were ranked remarkably high on the list: Ping An Group at 5th, Vanke at 24th, China Merchants Bank at 30th, Tencent at 43rd, BYD at 65th, ZTE at 68th and China Merchants Shekou Holdings at 99th.
Some other Shenzhen firms, such as Eternal Asia, Gemdale, Feima, China International Marine Containers (CIMC), Aisidi, OCT and O.film, were also included in the top 500 list.
In particular, Shenzhen-headquartered insurer Ping An Group ranked the toppest among all Shenzhen enterprises, with a revenue of around 712.5 billion yuan (US$106 billion) and profit of approximately 62.3 billion yuan last year.
The list was jointly compiled by Fortune China and China International Capital Corp. Ltd. (CICC), and it compared the performance of publicly listed Chinese companies last year. The total revenue of all of the 500 companies reached 33.54 trillion yuan, representing an increase of 9 percent from the previous year.
The highest profiting company is still the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China. Its net profit was 278.2 billion yuan last year.
In addition, there were some rapidly developing companies that ascended on the list. The rising star of the real estate industry, Greenland Group, led the pack with its outstanding performance last year. Also, SF Express appeared on the list for the first time, ranked 112th.
