A PAYMENT platform that allows nonlocal retirees from outside Guangdong to use their social security cards at 20 hospitals in Shenzhen was launched Tuesday, the Shenzhen Metropolis Daily reported yesterday.

The platform enables retired residents with registered permanent residence outside Guangdong to pay their inpatient medical bills at 20 hospitals in Shenzhen with their social security cards.

According to the city’s human resources and social security bureau’s spokesperson, Shen Hualiang, these residents should apply for social security cards designated for cross-province settlement, and they should complete the relevant procedures in advance for cross-province settlement in the city where they opened their social security accounts.

Additionally, these nonlocal residents can use their social security cards in a certain scope based on local policies in Shenzhen, but the payment threshold, payment proportion and maximum payment limit for their medical insurance funds will follow the policies in the city where they opened their social security accounts.

Those with registered permanent residence in other cities in Guangdong can use their social security cards or ID cards to see a doctor in Shenzhen. Medical bills can be settled directly with the use of a social security card at designated hospitals following the policies in the city where the social security account was opened. (Zhang Yang)
