A NEARLY 20-year-old man who had been drowning in the sea off Dapeng New Area was saved by a doctor who was on vacation with her family, the Southern Metropolis Daily reported Saturday.
Wang Qiuxia is a doctor at the stomatological department of Nanwan People’s Hospital in Longgang District. Wang was taking a walk with her family along the seashore in Dapeng at around 6 p.m. Friday when she saw some lifeguards providing emergency treatment to a drowning man.
“I’m a doctor and I’ve received professional training in first-aid treatment, so I intervened to help save the man,” Wang said. She alternated administering a few minutes of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) with another woman until the ambulance arrived.
“When the ambulance arrived, I felt like the man was going to throw up. I don’t know how he is doing now,” she said.
